We bring recycled ulin ironwood floors into homes around the world via our network of sales and distributors.

We are Kaltimber, aka Kalimantan Recycled Timber, a name that conveys the philosophy of the brand as well as the emphasis on reclaiming and recycling ironwood structures.

We carefully select the best disused boats, bridges or warehouses and turn them into beautiful solid timber products including decking, flooring, ceiling, duckboard, panelling and countertops.

We then take the offcuts and transform them into unique furnitures & homewares.

In 2021 we successfully started to work with the FNPF (Friends of the National Parks Foundation) to replant 50 ironwood trees, known as Eusideroxylon zwageri, as a first trial.

Starting January 1st, 2022 we took our engagement even further by promising to replant 50 Ulin trees for every 950 sqm. of fully processed decking and/or flooring purchased at Kaltimber.

To this day we replanted thousands of Ulin ironwood trees and counting.

  •  What is flooring?

In Kaltimber the reclaimed flooring company, it is a type of product manufactured from reclaimed and recycled hardwood ironwood and designed to be used indoor on a floor. In short it is called ironwood flooring or ulin flooring.

The wood comes in a variety of finishes and can be installed with different styles. Finishes range from a black or dark wooden parquet flooring, which would be the best wood for flooring kitchen and hide potential stain with a waterproof coating wood floor oil, to a clearer dark orange used wood flooring. The range is wide enough to fit all designs with your rustic timber flooring. Installation and the different parquet pattern: it can be regular straight exposed floorboards, chevron floor pattern, herringbone wood flooring and other interior design options to use you salvaged wood flooring.

Flooring is the general term for the covering of a floor structure. It can be either permanent or temporary but often long lasting. Materials commonly used for flooring include wood both hardwood and softwood and even antique reclaimed lumber, ceramic tile, stone, polish concrete, etc…

Not to be mistaken with floor covering which is a term to describe a material applied over a floor surface to provide a walking area. Floor covering refers more to lose-laid materials such as carpet, area rugs and resilient flooring such as vinyl.

 

  • What is decking?

In Kaltimber the reclaimed decking company, it is a type of product manufactured from reclaimed and recycled solid hardwood ironwood and designed to be used outdoor. In short it is called ironwood decking or ulin decking.

A deck is a flat surface, similar to a flooring, but typically constructed outdoors and meant for outdoor use. In most building it is elevated from the ground with joists and battens. Usually connected to a building it can also be an independent element in a green area or around a swimming pool.

The decking is more common on its installation, compared to flooring, with boards laid straight and a small space in between each board for air-flow and water evacuation. This recycled wood's characteristics and finish ensure a long-lasting wooden outdoor deck and you’ll, in addition, be part of the environmentally sustainable trends of 2024.
